The LHD Juan Carlos I is deployed in the Adriatic for the Adriatic Strike 22 exercises in Slovenia, escorted by the F-102 frigate "Juan de Borbón". The Juan Carlos I sails with an air wing of 5 AV-8B+ Harrier II fighters and one SH-60F. She additionally transports two Tiger helicopters and a Cougar from the FAMET, as well as a JTAC team from the Marine Corps and another from the Army. The primary training objective in Adriatic Strike is to conduct close air support or CAS missions.
