The captured Taliban fighters don't look very concerned though.
Hi, I've been following this thread for a week. Also following a few twitter feeds of ANA commandos still fighting. These shots according to them show Taliban that surrendered to resistance forces. The figure smiling is a resistance leader, not a Taliban soldier.

So what is the story about Ahmad Masood has joined Taliban?

He has an AK on his lap.

If anyone thinks Afghans will now find peace, well.....that's just not their way. The only thing different now is that a lot of cash has been passed around and tens of billions of dollars worth of American weapons have now been injected into the system.

Yes, I have read that. I'm not sure to be honest. It may be disinformation.
If true however, it opens up the possiblility this last week was all just a fabrication on behalf of the Taliban. A call to gather remnant ANA hardcore elements and forces, only to bottle them up for capture or slaughter. I truly hope not. One of the last tweets last night from an ANA commando was 'if I die, I die a free man.'

Yes, I see the AK. Two possibilities. He is either non government affiliated militia or had no weapon when he got to that area. Many ANA units were told by commanders to lay down their weapons and surrender. Sold out, as it were.

In our country, everything was relatively simple and understandable. The Afghan government requested the entry of Soviet troops. Soldiers and Soviet people were told: we are fulfilling an international duty, helping a friendly people to get out of the darkness of the Middle Ages. And it worked. Most of the Soviet people respected the soldiers who had been to Afghanistan. ?

But the politicians of the late USSR, and in particular Gorbachev, turned out to be either traitors or idiots. Even if we forget about their deeds, which led to the collapse of the USSR, the question of Afghanistan remains very acute. Everything in the country was heading towards collapse, and the soldiers from Afghanistan were simply forgotten. So, after 1986, the state was unable to create a concept of assistance to veterans - (both wounded and those suffering from traumatic syndrome. You call it Vietnam, we have Afghan syndrome). The country did not repay many for their participation in the war.

In 1991, the USSR collapsed, small wars began in many republics. In 1994, Russia was shaken by the war in Chechnya. Against the background of these events, the veterans of Afghanistan became unnecessary to anyone. Yeltsin did not give a damn about anything at all, especially about Soviet soldiers. Only soldier's friendship helped many of them survive to this day.
Don't take me for a fool.
We here know the Soviet way well. 40 years,,,
Until about 1975, the Soviet Union was one of Afghanistan's most important trading partners.

Then came Brezhnev.

You took the seed from which it all grew.

State Department Reportedly Sends Between 10,000 and 15,000 Blank Visa Forms to Kabul.

If what you're saying is, calling these people communists is an insult to communists, then I agree.
never go full retard....

You've never seen a communist in your life, you don't even know what communism is, and you don't even know what you're repeating like a parrot... BLM movement stupidity on the other side...
F***, if you only lived in Eastern Europe post 1945 "people's socialism" you'd be crying for Biden.

Prosperity makes people stupid, I see. But learning can change that.

The Federal Rescue Commander of the Austrian Red Cross has posted a podcast saying that the Geneva Refugee Convention is de facto repealed. 2015 will not be repeated

Even the Soviet Union was not communist by its own admission...

And who, wishing to cause trouble for the USSR, trained the Mujahideen, sent them weapons and made films about the "atrocities" of the USSR in Afghanistan? It seems Reagan called the Mujahideen "Warriors of Light". The USSR collapsed, but the terrorists remained. And it seems to me that today's American guys are paying the price for the shortsighted policies of their fathers.
