This is where we are at musashi . Our armed forces are sent on order by our government to intervene in other countries with no real reasonable explanation why ; Afghanistan , Iraq , lybia , Syria etc . This then creates a refugee stream and we are all supposed to just accept it . Until politicians are held to account regards these military interventions then nothing will change in the short term . Mean time we will just have to suck it and see .
I have a question. What blow has been dealt to American patriotism? There are many films shown on our television, where there is always a cool guy from the FBI or CIA who has gone through a hot spot. In each film, our attention is focused on the fact that it was hard for him and he was losing friends. But how are your politicians going to explain now - why all this was?

Excellent question. How will the politicians explain this? And how will the corrupt stooges in the media who protect them explain this. People are waiting....

"That was 4 or 5 days ago....man!"

In our country, everything was relatively simple and understandable. The Afghan government requested the entry of Soviet troops. Soldiers and Soviet people were told: we are fulfilling an international duty, helping a friendly people to get out of the darkness of the Middle Ages. And it worked. Most of the Soviet people respected the soldiers who had been to Afghanistan. ?

But the politicians of the late USSR, and in particular Gorbachev, turned out to be either traitors or idiots. Even if we forget about their deeds, which led to the collapse of the USSR, the question of Afghanistan remains very acute. Everything in the country was heading towards collapse, and the soldiers from Afghanistan were simply forgotten. So, after 1986, the state was unable to create a concept of assistance to veterans - (both wounded and those suffering from traumatic syndrome. You call it Vietnam, we have Afghan syndrome). The country did not repay many for their participation in the war.

In 1991, the USSR collapsed, small wars began in many republics. In 1994, Russia was shaken by the war in Chechnya. Against the background of these events, the veterans of Afghanistan became unnecessary to anyone. Yeltsin did not give a damn about anything at all, especially about Soviet soldiers. Only soldier's friendship helped many of them survive to this day.

I'll be honest - finding a picture of my dinner in this thread just confused the absolute S**t out of me.
Sorry I clicked on the wrong picture but I saved your's because I've got tuna, elbow mac & can pick up tomatoes locally & will try to make enuf to feed about 20 hungry guys & gals. Small kitchen on the plane but we come up with some pretty good chow.

I guess in part thats the beauty of the democratic system, the bunch now, will blame the bunch from back then.

In reality, 'freeing' a country from invasion seems doable(Kuwait), helping a country split up(Yugoslavia) seems doable with a lot of bloodshed.

Dragging a country into the 20th century, when a large % of the people clearly dont want that, is probably not doable.

As others have said, we actually achieved most of our stated war aims, within a few months. We then seem to have struggled as to what we wanted to achieve, and how we would do this.

As I've said before, I think this will have kept 'loonies' of our streets, but the logic then fails, because the cost to keep going was relatively low.

Add in a truly disasterous withdrawal, which isnt over, and we are going to have to think about our approaches to these sorts of issues.

I'd also like to point out, that the Taliban were pre-9/11 mistreating women, and all that stuff, and we didnt care enough to do anything about it, so we should have just stuck to our war aims, and then let charities do what they want, with $$ support from governments.

Afghanistan was easy to get into. Destroy Al Qaeda and kill Bin Laden after 9/11. No one, not even the biggest dove was against it. The mindset of the American people at the time was, "we don't give a S**t if we have to nuke half the world to kill that fukcer". If the Taliban stood in the way, screw them - they needed to die as well.

And that's where the Globalist Elites found their opportunity to make billions on an unending war. Bin Laden and 9/11 was the reason. But the war was purposely crafted to be unending. American people, keep sending your children and paying your taxes - just keep the billions flowing.

President Trump was the first to stick it to the Elites and seriously attempt to end the war. He knew the score.

It was basically this but with chilli flakes instead of powder (And about three times the amount in the recipe) and a shitload of dried basil.

Lost in Iraq, botched Syria and humiliated in Afghanistan. The days of Anglo-Saxon dominance are long over, my friend. Better get used to it.

Now Iran has a very well-equipped force on their border (don't worry you are not in Iran). Iran better start spending money on infrastructure in Afghanistan to keep them happy.

In short you are asking will the west as a power go the way of the USSR post Afghanistan once the dust settles ? I'll say one thing from a UK perspective , if the recent debate in the houses of parliament are anything to go by then it is apparent we are governed by a bunch of imbeciles who are completely out of touch with reality . Teresa may actually got credit for her speech whittling on about " global Britain " . She did however fail to mention that her husband works for a hedge fund that has investments in US defence contractors so has been a direct beneficiary of the war in Afghanistan . This is the sort of hypocritical position most western politicians find themselves in when they pretend to act like they have a grasp of things . They are a political class who sold out their countries a long long time ago .

Iraq was twice a 'military' victory - which bit of a routed Iraqi army did you not see? Problem is yanks had no plan for the peace
To be honest, it should have been a brutal crack down for 3 months after Baghdad fell and then on to Iran

Syria - can't remember the yanks invading in force - perhaps they should have done

Afghanistan again people don't learn from history - should have never gone there and just made it glow a bit
They were not fighting a regular army, so all rules should have gone out of the window

If I was Iran I would be keeping my head down as there is nothing more dangerous that a country that now needs to prove something - and treading on Iran is the least dangerous option (China 1st - Ruskia 2nd)
