Those Countries that are still flying military flights of humanitarian aid & running medical clinics in Afghanistan have a moral dilemma. [& occasionally flying out with foreign nationals, siv applicants, commandos & a few others that need to leave country]. As we unload aid, medicine, winter clothing, food, blankets, cooking oil, fuel etc, the taliban inspect all freight & take what they want, sometimes to sell in street markets. To cut them some slack, which I hate to do, they haven't been paid or fed by the taliban in months. We've done some partial unloading of sparkling pallets to divert them from the real aid which we move to a remote ramp & run stuff out the back gate. Not sure how much longer that is gonna work. I honestly feel sorry for some of the taliban rank & file soldiers that were my enemy just a few months ago. Moral dilemma, yep, I got's it bad.

I think they are fighting isis & aq pretty much already. Current negotiations are ongoing with China with a real sticking point of the taliban guaranteeing security for the Chinese workers @ the mining & transport sites. From our experience in negotiating with our Chinese partners in Greenland, get the infrastructure & money up front before any oil or minerals leave our borders. & work with letters of credit when our pork hits their ports in China. I've seen a few taliban in the local markets selling our aid but I've also seen them just give hard goods & food to Afghans that have no money to buy stuff. Maybe they'll be benevolent leaders one day. Hunger & shelter is going to be a dog's breakfast with winter already coming on. Say a few prayers for my kids there if you want to.

Sorry to confuse. RDAF here. Did a tour with the USN & still have an active navy.mil email account so I get US info a day or 2 ahead of NATO & RDAF coalition flash emails on Afghanistan evac & the US retrograde situation. The Countries that are now still flying evacs & humanitarian have begged US State & DoD to coordinate better with us for their people/citizens. DoD seems to have gotten the message, 3 months late, but things are looking better if they follow thru.

The taliban are using mobile crane boom trucks to hang people & then drive them thru the streets in Helmand Province. Not sure if these are criminals or Afghan that colluded with the coalition. Anyway, RIP.

Worked with some RDAF F-16s back in the early 00s on exercise. Good bunch, not great drinkers though!

We're still flying the F-16s & keep a squadron @ Nevatim. We are pretty limited on times/hours we are allowed to drink & stay on active flight status. Always thought it suc'd to legally be allowed 2 beers a day on combat tours unless you were flying in the next 24. They watch us real close, haha & probably need to. Mental health & piss tests is a big business these days.

I understand where Command is coming from on the constant mental & piss tests. We had a pilot that was given amphetamines to keep him awake on those long trips over the mountains & crossed our borders a little wonky with hot weapons. Was about 10 yrs ago & we're still paying for it. I love a couple beers compliments of the Crown with evening meal but that grounds me. Not a big drinker anyway but if I can string a few days off together I might tie one on.
