Flight IIA TI (Technology Insertion) Arleigh Burke class multi-mission destroyer. The TI ships have solid state technology insertions to get the maximum performance from their SPY-1D(V) radars.
She has the Aegis combat management system in the Baseline 9 configuration and is capable of simultaneous air and ballistic missile defence. She is also very capable in anti-surface and land strike warfare and is fully equipped for anti-submarine warfare with a bow mounted sonar, a towed array sonar, and two MH-60R helicopters.
In addition to her main radar she is one of a growing number of Arleigh Burkes to get the SPQ-9 radar for surface search, gunnery, and sea-skimming missile detection and periscope detection. She has the SLQ-32 SEWIP electronic warfare suite and NULKA decoys for soft kill anti-ship missile defence.
She has 96 VLS cells for various types of armament. She will carry SM-2, SM-6 and ESSM missiles for anti-air use (including anti-ship missile defence) and SM-3 missiles for Ballistic Missile Defense. The SM-2 and SM-6 also have a secondary anti-surface capability. She will carry the latest Tomahawk Block V cruise missiles in two models (a) for anti-ship use and (b) for land strike missions. She will carry ship mounted, rocket launched, and helicopter launched torpedoes. For gunnery has a 5 inch main gun, a 20mm Phalanx system for point defence and two 25mm cannons for force protection.
The follow-on Flight III Arleigh Burke destroyers have already started building and will have more capable SPY-6(V)1 radars and Aegis Baseline 10 combat management systems.
