Photos Aussies and Kiwi's in Vietnam

OC Bravo Company was Major Michael Jeffery, who went on to be CO SASR, he had a long 7 year stint as Governor of Westerna Australia and another long 7 year stint as the Governor General of Australia. He also went to the same High School as @digrar something I'm probably more aware of than he is...

I fear that may be true mate.

Talking of slouch hats - I saw Keith Payne's went for 30,000 dollars to help with his local healthcare setup during the Covid-19 crap...

On May 6th 1969 Warrant Officer Class 2 Rayene “Ray” Stewart Simpson performs the first of two actions for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross.

While in the Kontum province, Vietnam, Simpson was commanding local Montagnards when the leading platoon came under heavy fire. He ran under fire to a wounded Australian advisor and carried him to safety. He then covered the company’s withdrawal while still carrying his mate.

On the second occasion, May 11th, he organised the rescue of wounded men trapped by enemy fire, placing himself between them and the enemy until they could withdraw.

Simpson left the army in 1970 as the longest serving member of the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam.
