*My Friend BD Popeye , Why is she is wearing a US Air Force Camo uniform? really this picture got my attention on that issue !!!

Aboard ship the USN must still receive many used uniforms for other services. These uniforms are used for dirty work at sea. Particularly on the flight deck. These hand me down uniforms are not to be worn in port or when watch-standing or other such official duties. They are for at sea dirty work only. I have to add since the addition of the Navy working uniform about 10 years ago I've not see sailors wearing other service uniforms very often.

Germany, Hamburg State Police SWAT

44huj26.jpg

45pojwu.jpg

Fun fact: The Hamburg PD was the first police force (by a long shot) to induct women into its special units, figuring that they would draw less attention in the city's crime-heavy red light district. They used to have gals on their SWAT team long before other German states had even established 1. SWAT teams or allowed 2. female officers to serve on the streets (ca. 1977). Until 2017, the unit was led by one of its first female officers, who at one occasion famously disguised herself as a negotiator and blasted a baddie in the head with a concealed gun to rescue his hostages.

Master Sergeant Steffi Matz represents Germany at this year's invictus games as a short-putter. Matz, a combat medic, was diagnosed with PTSD after serving overseas.

Last year, the German reservists' association magazine brought a piece about Matz, whose story shows how cruel fate can be. She survived dozens of TICs, saw people get killed and killed people herself, and pulled through relatively fine.
Only to get her nerves wrecked by a Grad rocket landing next to her at the very end of a tour of twelve months.

Historically, German militaries have always had a higher proportion of officers and non-commissioned officers than other armies – but a captain as a platoon leader? 'Too many chieftains, too few indians' I believe the saying goes.
