The German Army posted on Twitter that for the first time a female soldier has graduated from special operations course and been selected to serve in the EGB component of 31st Fallschirmjäger Regiment. Doctrinally, EGB exists to conduct raids, take high-profile targets, extract civilians from conflict zones and providing perimeter defence to KSK (special forces command). In other words, they're a little bit like Germany's equivalent of the American 75th Ranger Regiment.

Ironically, EGB stands for "enhanced basic capabilities", which makes their role sound pretty lame.

Requirements to be selected for EGB training:

7.000 m cross country run with 20 kg in less than 52 minutes
Swimming 200 m in full gear in less than 8 minutes
Completing a special CQB obstacle course in less 3 minutes 20 seconds
Completing a 70 km forced march across rough terrain
