That's the future Queen of Spain, HRH Leonor, Princess of Asturias. I think it's a grand idea that European monarchies have their heirs (and heiresses) serve. Perhaps some governments would function a bit more effective if military service was made a prerequisite for being eligible to govern.

I seem to remember that Luxembourg worked like this way into the 1990s. You basically could hold high offices if you hadn't served.
