KODIAK, ALASKA (March 8, 2023) – U.S. Navy SEALs conduct Over-the-Beach operations during training as part of the Senior Mountaineering course. NSWCEN provides initial assessment and selection and subsequent advanced training to the Sailors who make up the Navy's SEAL and Special Warfare Combat Crewman communities. These communities support the NSW mission, providing maritime special operations forces to conduct full spectrum operators, unilaterally or with partners, to support national objectives. Steve joined SEAL Team 1 in 1978 and was accepted into Officer Candidate School in 1983 in Newport, Rhode Island, where he was commissioned as an officer in November 1983, after which he was assigned to SEAL Team 2, deploying to Lebanon and eventually serving for 7 deployments and 17 years in the SEAL Teams.

(July 17, 2023) A West Coast-based Naval Special Warfare (NSW) operators conducts reconnaissance with Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 1 during routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. CSG-1 is underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. NSW integrated with CSG-1 to enhance maritime domain awareness and to educate leaders on emerging NSW capabilities. NSW is the nation’s elite maritime special operations force, uniquely positioned to extend the Fleet’s reach and gain and maintain access for the Joint Force in competition and conflict.
