After their unit landed in the middle of a Viet Cong staging area, medic Pfc. Andrew J. Brown of Chicago draws his pistol while protecting a wounded U.S. paratrooper from sniper fire in the jungle near Thuong Lang, about 10 miles northeast of Bien Hoa, June 24, 1965.
