After a successful PASSEX with TCG Yavuz, SNMG2 completed its first 2021 Black Sea deployment and is now enjoying a port visit to Istanbul, where the Force has been warmly welcomed by local naval authorities.

Exercise Sea Shield-21 hosted by Romania was conducted on 19-29 March 2021 in the western Black Sea with the participation of the United States, Bulgaria, Greece, Poland, Spain and the Turkish frigate TCG Kemalreis assigned to SNMG2. Following the exercise, the Turkish frigate TCG Kemalreis conducted a port visit to Samsun on March 29-31 2021 together with the Spanish ESPS Mendez Nuñez, Bulgarian BGS Smeli, & Romanian ROS Regina Maria frigates assigned to SNMG2.
