"Stolen from Iraq" would be a wrong decription I assume since the Iraqi pilots of those were defected to Iran during the 1991 Gulf War & afterwards so eventually the planes ended up in Iranian service...

No sir , saddam hussein personally gave orders for high value iraqi planes to flee to iran , in teh vein hope iran would give them back since they are muslims too . but iran did not . i don't want to give it a negative connotation , but iraq demanded them back after the end of 1991 kuwait war .

How this tank, whatever its actual capabilities are, is the "answer" to Merkava? I mean, in what conceivable scenario the Israeli and Iranian armor could actually meet on a battlefield?

PR. i mean it looks a rough and rugged just like the isrealis merkava ! i was not implying in any way that it is supposed to meet merkava anytime

Shortened spartan apparently- as to the why of doing this I don't know.

Normandy is part of the East Coast Surface Action Group and is operating in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
