For above posted photo, It is actually Spanish Aircraft Carrier 'Dédalo', not Principe de Asturias...

The FIMAR-R-I began its deployment in Romania last November 2024.

A mechanised tactical sub-group and a support unit of the Spanish Marines are deployed as part of NATO Battlegroup Romania at Camp General Berthelot at the Cincu base (Romania). At the moment this mechanised tactical sub-group is generated from the 3rd Mechanised Landing Battalion of the Marine Infantry Brigade. The deployed contingent includes Piranha IIIC 8x8 armoured vehicles, and Uro VAMTACs (including Spike ATGM and EIMOS mortars equiped variants).

This is the third permanent deployment of Spanish troops in the international Battlegroups established on the eastern flank of NATO, after Latvia (since Jun 2017) and Slovakia (since Jan 2024).

As can be seen in the photos, deployed Spanish Marine troops are already equipped with the new HK 416A5 instead of the old HK G-36.

The riflemen of the last pic carry the HK416 A5 rifle, Eotech G33 3x magnification flip-up scope, Aimpoint Micro M-2 2MOA red dot scope and Steiner AN/PEQ-15A dual beam (red laser / IR) designator. The shotgun he also carries is a Benelli M4A1 with telescopic stock and 14-inch barrel.

The HK 416A5 is the reglamentary replacement for the old HK G-36 in the Spanish Marines, while the Benelli M4A1 replaces the old Mossberg 500 and Remington 870.

Six AB-212s decommissioned from the Navy are scheduled to be transferred to the Helicopter Manoeuvre Battalion (BHELMA VI) of the Spanish Army Airmobile Force (FAMET) based at Los Rodeos (Tenerife, Canary Islands).

The AB-212 ex-Spanish Navy, deeply modernised by INAER and SENER between 2015 and 2019 will replace the few old and less upgraded B-212s still in service with the BHELMA VI.
