Other Post So, how was your day?

Five years after it first escaped a Chinese laboratory and I’ve finally caught COVID for the first time. Not too bad so far. Some chills and a slightly sore throat. Really crappy timing though, I have so much Xmas stuff I’m supposed to be doing.

Had it only ever once in summer 2022, odd as well to catch it then with near 40c temps.

Considering your symptoms I wouldn’t worry too much beside the discomfort and terrible timing. You’ll get better within days.

Thanks Jake, fingers crossed you are right. I was being an insufferable smug git about being “immune “ to COVID and now it’s bit me in the bum.

Chills and a sore throat were the symptoms I got two years ago, IDK which variants of covid is raging right now? Omicron-2.6.5 or whatever.

Anyway, I was doing much better in less than a week. You’ll too. As for Christmas prepping, leave that to some in your family or in-laws actually in a better shape right now. You deserve some rest.

Don’t forget it’s highly contagious, so get the family to leave Johnie walker medicine outside your door. Should be better by 2nd jan.

Made it through another holidays season as Murica calls it. We missed out on the traditional Xmas loot thread from Digs, otherwise I got really nicely spoiled and spoiled back as much as I could.

Next surgeons appointment is on January 9th, I’m already in agreement with getting the knee replacement surgery, and just like last summer will only have to wait and agree for a date. The sooner the better.

A happy day at the dentist - got them cleaned, and no decay was found! It's been a while since that happened. Got ear boob again - just once, but one is better than none. The hygienist slightly resembles AOC, but she's a very nice lady and draws very little blood with her work.

Other than that, the 2nd ice age is upon us. -13F when I scooped the walk and driveway @ 0600. Pickup and car both started, but I was wishing I'd given the air cleaner a shot of ether. Supposed to be -20F tonight, but we're well stocked on food. Made a big pot of chicken/noodle soup which is happily bubbling away.

Weather is supposed to straighten up Friday with temps in the 40s & 50s. I hope so, anyway - the older I get, the less humorous I find winter.

Chicken soup! Both my Mom and my wife make excellent chicken soup. Unfortunately, Mom passed this last summer. But we still think about that wonderful chicken base she’d start with. Chicken carcass in the pot, cooked until the scraps of meat fell off the bones. Take out the bones and start in with the spices…. Always a bay leaf floating in there somewhere!

Ever since my gf started flying to Australia and got brought Australian steak for me, I'm addicted to it. Probably the best meat I have ever eaten, top quality, beats wagyu or USDA prime.

King Island, its all Angus on a French rye grass. I kid you not. I was there. Loooking around next thing am in their Freezing works and they wouldn't let me leave till they had killed everything for the season.

This week we revisited the Calvados region in Normandy, last time was in 2020 during difficult, unpredictable Covid times…

Started off driving to the lovely town of Deauville:

Then drove to Bayeux known for its tapestry museum amongst other things:

Spring has finally sprung, and that was a nice bonus as we lucked out on that too…

Bummed the Deauville photo doesn’t show up so I’ll try to post it separately:

Gorgeous half-timbered houses, lots of garden and flowers if a bit onerous…

Was at a BYD dealership yesterday, Im slowly getting cool to the idea that my next new car purchase would be an electric car. The BYD dolphin seems to fit the bill of a daily work runner

Utter tranquility on this white sand playa. Any reason? Tuesday?
Im on a 8 days in my 24 day leave and decided to get out of the house for a day or two. Then back to No Mans Sky and maybe a trip to taiwan. Had no plans coming into the leave haha
