On the working from home thing; yep. It’s sort of cool first especially for those with long or difficult commute but after months on end of it; I found that whilst you may work more and aren’t distracted by other coworkers or your direct boss/manager, and as much as I enjoy being a recluse. It’s good to be back into the work environment and socialize a bit.

During the peak of this pandemic and assuming the worst is behind us, what a life? Wake up, spend eight hours in a row on your laptop, enjoy a quick lunch and go out only for errands as everything else was closed minus the pharmacy?

Not the apocalypse some were expecting. No Zombies, no conventional wars. Only a naughty bug shutting down the world.

Finally, finished scanning and editing some 400+ mainly Romanian Communist Era pictures I had over 300 to do but the guy I got them off offered me a further 61 connected to one man, identified by name and rank and the fact some of them were taken in Leningrad in the 1950's where he was on attachment clinched it, he also had prior service as a young teenager in the Royal Army of Romania in WW2 now the option I contemplate

Finally after a week of hectic flights, disaster relief flights and some christmas parties its all quiet. So my friend invited me to the golf range today and I havent been in one in years. We kinda enjoyed it and thinking of doing it more and just buying a used golf set. Anyone of you play and have advice for a newb?

Mind you, next to basketball and shooting this country is into golf, theres golf courses and ranges everywhere and they arent that expensive of a sport to pick up... compared shooting. Yes basketball is cheaper but we arent in the ghettos who need scholarships.

Golf range: $7 per hour unlimited bawls
18 course: $50 all in
 
Quite a pleasant surprise today! My publisher just told me a Japanese military-oriented publishing company is negotiating for rights to print a version of my latest book for their market. No word on the money yet, but I'm way pumped! I'll be famous! Rich? Ahhh... not so much, but there might be more to come! :D,-usa,-usa,-usa

Just make sure the agreement also includes that they put it in a presentation box

I just love Japanese books when they arrive, and they have a presentation box - very classy
 
Eventually my half empty glass sentiments and pessimism before the Holidays season turned out to have been wrong.

Way too much food and booze and that’s typical. Looking forward a dryer, healthier January.

Got completely wasted yesterday until about 5:00am but we partied here in my place at least. Still trying to recover but cannot nap.

Now I have in my mind that Cranberries tune: « there was a game we used to play, hit the town on Friday night and stay in bed until Sunday. » because that sums up my plan.

We got invited out last night - and it is basically the well off widow's group in the village - OH goes to all the social functions - book group, garden club etc.

Had a couple of glasses of wine at home before we set off - and we got to see all the Christmas lights in the village on the way

The food was superb - there was a lot of champagne and good wine - there was one other bloke there, and he owns a firm that promotes green energy and green batteries

Walked up and back down again - to be honest it was as warm as a cold summers evening - no coat

Back in about 3am and no hangover today, which is always the sign of a good bottle of wine

I can now start planning 2022's building projects

(only downside was Tony Bliar got a 'Sir' in the New Years 'Honours' list instead of a prison number)
 
Sounds swell. My own party was quite low key, despite decent to great champagne and wine and good food. Nothing overly fancy. We mostly joked, tossed cracks at each others and sometimes discussed more thoughtfully, laughed and listened to a very wide variety of musical genre.

I just didn’t realize I was clearly becoming knackered past midnight. Got to say for some reason, the party and evening was a slow pace before we decided to get drunk some more and 4am tick the clock faster than I could imagine.

And yes, very mild weather lasting this afternoon which is a bonus. Tone B’Liar, there has to be a downside about anything but this guy despite his charming cockney accent when speaking French always come across as what he is: a pathological liar, dragging the UK into Iraq wasn’t even my main irk with him ether.

Someone who i work with had the sheer nerve to send me a message asking me to swap shifts with them today ...


My response ..... No reply .. I despise working sundays and i've never worked the 2nd Jan .. since 2007 No way after all these years am i going to waste my 2nd of january going to work on a Sunday ..
 
So depressing this shift only done 1 RS and 1 table in the bar ...and its not even 5 pm yet . Dragging in is an Understatememt ..
