another test drone under construction

2025 is a long way away

24 by 2024;) so they will be old models - 'new' ones by 2028

Who is taking? ? ? ? Brits cant even make 4th gen fighters on their own, let alone 5th gen fighters...

And you are qualified to make that statement.......

We don't have to announce it on Tass every day to make you feel better ?

SU57 is not even 4.5 - come back to me when they have actually built a few with decent engines and 'real' stealth - 2028+
Even the PAF dropped out because it's a donkey (and the same colour)

And you are qualified to make that statement.......
Maybe I dont have military background but at least I read articles before commenting. You dont even bother to do it before writing your stupid comments. Like for instance your idiotic proposal to confront S-500 (anti-satellite missile system!!!) with imaginary swarm of drones. ? ? ?

Well enlighten me. Show me British-made 5th gen fighter. All you guys have is CGI. At best. ???

At least Russians make it by themselves. Brits had to create consortium with other European countries in order to produce 4th gen fighter. 5th gen... well you just buy them. Just stating a fact.

Clearly you don't - having just been able to retire at 58 clearly my lengthy career with military systems paid quite well (Y)
Just look at the recent conflicts and how the S300 was destroyed by drones - the S400 in Syria is never switched on  the S500 although more advanced is just a target waiting to be destroyed. Once you switch it on, it's a big target.
If you look at Israel's Iron Dome (which I have done from very close range) it is very very good but currently not 100% water tight - it will be better soon once it gets its laser upgrade:rolleyes:

The Tempest is 6th Gen and is currently under development - at least it will have a decent engine(Y) and we can actually build it in the UK if we need to
(just remember how big our economy is and what world-class products we can produce) (UK GDP is twice Ruskia???)
You laugh, but Ruskia first started to develop the SU57 in 2002? and has yet to bring it into serial production
The 24 to be manufactured and produced by 2024/25 won't have the 'new' engine - so can not really be classed as 5th Gen till the engine issues are sorted. (and the test ones keep crashing;))
It is reputed to have 360 sensing - but again it still seems to be in development:rolleyes:
It does not have any level of stealth - so again not 5th Gen
So I will stand by my statement that it is 4.5 max

It is also telling that once matched with its bomb truck S70 drone, the single seat SU57 only managed to control one and not multiple drones
Tass announced that it was going to develop a two-seater SU57 so that the second person could control up to 4 drones - draw your own conclusions
On the basis of the 'speed' of development of the SU57 god only knows when the two-seater will appear
(I need to ask Uri.............)

The problem with your third statement is that the Ruski's are not 'making' them in any great numbers as you cannot afford them - you cannot even get a working final version with a decent engine - like so much of Ruski proposed super weapons it never materializes - or when we do get our hands on a 'working' version it usually turns out to be a heap of junk

I really have to pop your bubble but Ruskia's only place at any table is because you have nuclear weapons - other than that you are broke and Vlad is bleeding you dry. I will be posting in the Yank thread shortly that a well known company has opened a new manufacturing facility where its next gen aircraft and other items will be built. You are just not in the same ballpark

I am not going to mention the T14 Amata debacle - procurement was supposed to be 2,300 by 2020 ?- you will be lucky to have delivered 20+ by 2022 - I am actually looking forward to driving one to be honest(Y) So another example of a real gulf between expectation and actual delivery

sorry for the 'long' reply - I do prefer the jokey one liner(Y)

Alright I will tone it down out of respect for your age. Being in my early 30s working as an Accountant here in London I dont really have much time to answer your post. Let me just say that your post is very one-sided with redards to military matters ad very short-sighted with regards to geopolitics.

If you are an accountant then you must realize that you cannot build or do the R&D for anything without money
I think I clearly pointed out the issues - it's about promise and delivery - or lack of it
Don't worry about toning it down, this is a discussion forum - if the SU57 turns out to be the best things since sliced bread, I will be the first one to say I was wrong.

I would add, the current typhoon, eurofighter, was esentially U.K. designed, and the U.K. would have had no problem producing them 100%. Politically and financially better to share.

so now there are hundreds in service, and still in production.

tempest will be similar, take some good bits from other countries, share production, but if one country pulls out, U.K. guarantees to build the jet, really helps to hold the project together, politically.

Russia has great history, and I’m sure a good future, but it hasn’t fielded a truly new weapon system since ussr times. These systems cost a fortune, no matter what country you talk about, mostly Russia updates and upgrades ussr systems, with good effect.

Russia moves Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets to Belarus to patrol borders, Minsk says

MOSCOW, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Russia has sent Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets to western Belarus to form a joint military training centre, fly joint missions and patrol the two countries' borders, the Belarusian defence ministry said on Wednesday.

The announcement comes two days before the start of military drills in Belarus and Russia that have prompted consternation in the NATO military alliance and European Union countries.

Belarus has been at loggerheads with the West since President Alexander Lukashenko unleashed a violent crackdown on mass street protests last year. The tensions have pushed Belarus to fall back on traditional ally Russia for financial and diplomatic support.

Lukashenko is due to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Thursday. Earlier this month, Lukashenko said Russia would soon deliver a huge military hardware consignment to Belarus, including aircraft, helicopters and air defence systems.

Russian fighter jets escorted US Air Force bomber after it reportedly approached Russian airspace

(CNN)Russian fighter jets were scrambled to escort a US Air Force plane that reportedly approached Russian airspace over the Pacific Ocean, Russian state news agency TASS said Sunday.
There were no violations of Russia's state border during the episode, according to TASS, which, citing Russia's National Defense Command Center, said "three Russian fighters Sukhoi-35S have been scrambled to escort a US strategic bomber B-52H, which approached Russia's airspace." "The fighters' crews identified the target as a strategic B-52H bomber of the US Air Force and escorted it over the Pacific Ocean. There were no violations of Russia's state border or dangerous proximity of planes in the air," TASS added.

According to the state-owned news agency, the fighter jets "strictly followed" international rules and returned to base after the US plane moved away from the Russian border.
CNN has reached out to the Pentagon for comment.
The incident marks the latest salvo in recent years between Russian aircraft and either US or NATO aircraft. In March, NATO scrambled fighter jets 10 times to track and intercept an unusually "rare peak" of Russian bombers and fighters flying over the North Sea, Black Sea and Baltic Sea, a NATO official said at the time.

And in August 2020, two Russian aircraft made an "unsafe, unprofessional" intercept of a US Air Force B-52 bomber over the Black Sea and in international waters, causing turbulence to the B-52 that restricted its ability to maneuver.

Tsirkon missile first launch from submarine to be conducted in White Sea in October

POSTED ON FRIDAY, 01 OCTOBER 2021 09:04

The first test launch of the Tsirkon hypersonic missile from a submarine will be carried out from the Severodvinsk nuclear submarine in the White Sea in October, a source in the military-industrial complex told TASS.

"The first launch of a Tsirkon from the Severodvinsk submarine within the framework of development flight tests will be carried out from the water surface position at the beginning of October. Depending on its results, the second launch from underwater at sea targets is scheduled in November," he said.

According to him, the scheduled first launch from the Severodvinsk nuclear submarine in September was postponed to October due to the need to carry out all technical preparation measures.

NPO Mashinostroyeniya (part of Tactical Missiles Corporation), the developer and producer of the Tsirkon missiles, remained mum on this information.

According to agency’s interlocutor, by the end of 2021, two Tsirkon launches will be scheduled, and also state trials will take place next year. The source mentioned that this missile’s state trials are set to begin in November, and they will continue in 2022, after that the planned supply of missiles to the Russian Navy will begin.
