Town class light cruiser HMS Gloucester just before being sunk by German aircraft, May 22, 1941. She was sunk by German dive bombers on 22 May 1941 during the Battle of Crete with the loss of 722 men out of a crew of 807. Gloucester acquired the nickname "The Fighting G" after earning five battle honours in less than a year

HMS Sceptre (S-104), 4th Swiftsure class fleet submarine during sea trials in 1977 using a Sea King helicopter to transfer personnel. HMS Sceptre was commissioned on 14/02/1978 & decommissioned on 10/12/2010.
RN & Canada:
Upholder (Type 2400) SSK class leader HMS Upholder (S-40). Commissioned on 7 Dec 1990 and decommissioned 29 April 1994 , then transferred to Royal Canadian Navy and commissioned on 3 September 2015 as a Victoria class HMCS Chicoutimi (SSK-879).
RN:
Aircraft carrier HMS Hermes at Portsmouth Harbour on its return from the Falklands on 21 July 1982. Hermes is surrounded by small boats which sailed out to welcome it home and large crowds can be seen on the quayside.
