As you may know, since 2021, when a pro-Western party PAS won a clear majority of seats in the parliamentary elections, the leadership is trying to use this opportunity to move Moldavia further away from Russian influence, which even accelerated after the major Russian escalation of the War in Ukraine in 2022. That also includes closer co-operation with NATO countries in the security and defence area, as well as military assistance/donations from such countries. If the War in Ukraine will countinue to develop in Ukraine's favor and the current Moldavian government will hold its majority in the next elections (2025), we may see some significant changes in the Moldavian military equipment in the next years. Definitely worth to follow

One of the first signs is, since early this year, Moldavian military receiving 19 ex-Danish Piranha IIIH from Germany. The others being a donation of helmets, clothing, drones, military training or EOD equipment. More is planned, such as new ambulances, more EOD equipment, modern radio equipment and Thales GM200 air surveillance radar (obviously in reaction to the Russian missiles flying through the Moldavian airspace). Also a new military base is planned near the capital Chisinau.
