Iran's modernised Ghadir and Nasr missiles?
1. I would not want to be sat in the cab of that truck while firing.
2. was that actually the target ship?

The fact that they keep repeating the same video of the same target ship being hit by the same missile makes you feel they are serious. ;)

Israel:
The opening ceremony for the 7th Wing - the Special Forces Wing, was held at Palmachim AFB. The new wing is composed of the IAF's Special Forces: Airborne Combat, Search and Rescue Unit 669 ,"Shaldag", and the Frontal Landing Unit. Additionally, a dedicated Intelligence unit and a joint school for Special Forces will be part of the new wing. The new wing enhances the IAF's capabilities and is a complementary and unique component to its activity, by allowing for more operational freedom and diversity in special missions, both routine and emergency.

"We are in times of regional change - with a global pandemic and a battlefield becoming more complex every day. Our commanders understand that these changes force us to adapt to the challenges that the future holds", said Commander of the IAF, Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin, during the opening ceremony.

The 7th Wing that opened today at Palmachim AFB, was created due to operational needs and the changing and increasing threats on different fronts as part of a broader process to strengthen and sharpen the special unit's operational effectiveness. There is great operational significance to a body that will unify the IAF's Special Forces and reinforce the IAF's capabilities by synchronising their activity. At the base of the plan is - improving the operational effectiveness of the units by adapting tactics and weapons systems and broadening cooperation in the IAF, IDF, and the defence system as a whole.

UAE:
In a first for the Arab world, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has begun start-up operations in the initial unit of its first nuclear power plant, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has said.

The Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant on the Gulf coast west of Abu Dhabi, a major oil producer, is being built by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). The plant was originally due to open in 2017 but the start-up of its first reactor was repeatedly delayed.

ENEC on Saturday said its subsidiary Nawah Energy Company "has successfully started up Unit 1 of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, located in the Al Dhafrah Region of Abu Dhabi".

The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wrote on Twitter that nuclear fuel had been loaded into the first of four units of what he called "the first peaceful nuclear energy reactor in the Arab world".

"We are now another step closer to achieving our goal of supplying up to a quarter of our nation's electricity needs and powering its future growth with safe, reliable, and emissions-free electricity," ENEC's Chief Executive Mohamed Ibrahim al-Hammadi said.

In a first for the two countries, the Israel Defence Forces will soon take part in a binational military exercise with Germany. Six of Tzahal's F-16I and the relevant support personnel will deploy to Noervenich Air Base near Cologne to train with the Typhoons from Luftwaffe's 31ˢᵗ Tactical Fighter Wing "Boelcke". A joint Israeli-German flyover at Fuerstenfeldbruck Air Base on August 18 will mark the tragic anniversary of a failed attempt to rescue nine Israeli hostages slain by Palestinian terrorists there in 1972. (Source, German)

A wonderful sign of reconciliation, and a great opportunity for the Germans to learn from one of the must busy air forces in the world.

Turkey & Iraq:
A Turkish drone strike killed two senior Iraqi security officials, Iraq’s military said Tuesday, marking the first time that Turkey’s operation to root out Kurdish rebels in Iraq’s north produced fatalities among high-ranking Iraqi personnel.

The drone targeted a vehicle belonging to the Border Guards in the Bradost area, north of Irbil, the military statement said, causing the deaths of two commanders and the vehicle’s driver.

Gen. Mohammed Rushdi, commander of the Border Guards’ 2nd Brigade and Brig. Zubair Hali, commander of the 3rd Regiment, were killed in the attack Ihsan Chelebi, the mayor of Bradost, told The Associated Press. He said they had been establishing new posts in the ar

Attempts to reach Turkish military officials for comment were not successful.

Baghdad condemned the attack as a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and said continued attacks would provoke a “review” of bilateral relations, a Foreign Ministry statement said. Iraq also cancelled a scheduled visit by Turkey’s defense minister Thursday.

Two Iraqi security officials said the Border Guard commanders were meeting secretly with members of the Kurdistan Worker’s Party, or PKK, during the attack. Turkey considers the PKK a terrorist organization and has bombed their positions inside northern Iraq in several operations.

The security officials said five others were also killed in the attack. They did not say whether they were military personnel or civilians.

A PKK official in northern Iraq said the meeting had taken place in Bradost. “The purpose of the meeting was to bring stability to the area,” he said.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

On June 17, Ankara launched an airborne-and-land offensive into the border region of Haftanin, some 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the Turkey-Iraq border.

The operation drew the ire of Iraqi officials who on two occasions summoned Turkey’s ambassador to Baghdad to deliver a protest note. The killing of the high-ranking Iraqi officials is expected to further strain Iraq’s relations with Turkey.

Turkey has defended its operations in northern Iraq, saying neither the Iraqi government nor the regional Iraqi Kurdish administration have acted to remove PKK insurgents who allegedly use Iraq’s territory to stage attacks on Turkey.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the US Missile Defense Agency conducted a joint test of the Arrow-2 air defense system in Israel on Wednesday.

The Israeli defense ministry said in a statement that the updated Arrow-2 system successfully intercepted a target missile simulating a long-range surface-to-surface missile carrying a warhead

“This kind of interceptor really can face current and future threats that can threaten the State of Israel,” Moshe Patel, Head of the Israeli Missile Defense Organization, told reporters.

Israeli Minister of Defense Benny Gantz said the test proves that Israel “will always be one step ahead of our enemies.”

“We will defend Israeli skies from any threat,” he continued.

The defense ministry said the joint test reflects the friendship between Israel and the United States.

“We will continue to work together to strengthen the capabilities of the defense establishment in the air, land and sea, as well as in cyberspace,” the ministry said.

Israel rolled out the Arrow-2 missile defense system 20 years ago in March 2000. It's first reported operational use was in March 2017 against a Syrian surface-to-air missile that was fired at an Israeli aircraft.

The Arrow system, which includes the Arrow, Arrow-2, and Arrow-3 interceptor missiles, are designed to shoot down ballistic and cruise missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

Israel tested the effectiveness of the Arrow-3 system over Alaska last summer. The Arrow-3 was developed in a joint Israeli-American program and is designed to intercept intercontinental missiles.

Frankly I think they are used to it.

I'd still say they have it better than the Palestinians.

The Palestinians, the ones still in Palestine, have become so indoctrinated to be the hate filled victim, that even with billions and billions of dollars in aid, have a failure to thrive. The Kurds on the hand, want to move ahead at every chance. I hope they get their own homeland one day.
