FACs in Navy's service(credits malaysiandefence)

Despite being close to 50 y.o, they're still being used for patrol duty against encroaching chinese, indonesian and vietnamese fishing vessels until a forseeable future.

To partly alleviate the obsolescence issues, these vessels are being upgraded which include the introduction of a miniaturized CMS (combat management system) and electro-optical fire control system

RCWs in Navy's ships
The navy uses MSI DS30 RWS (top, middle pics) for its Gagah Samudera-class training ship as well as the upcoming Maharajalela-class LCS (littoral combat ship) while the chinese-made H/PJ-17 (bottom) is installed on the Keris-class LMS. Interestingly while both of them uses 30mm gun, they use different, incompatible munition.

The MMEA/coast guard, meanwhile, uses Aselsan SMASH 30mm RWS for its patrol vessels

Recognizing the potential of RWS, several local companies also developed their own version of RWS

AV-8 and EC-725 loading test on A400M. The acquisition of Airbus A400M had given the air force some sort sort of strategic airlift capability not seen previously on C-130H (even a stretched version of C-130H) and CN-235.

In the future, expect the loading test on A400M to become part of requirements in asset acquisition (SPH, APC, et cetera)

Malaysian army personnel during 2013 Operation Daulat , where terrorists from southern philippines came and cause trouble in the east Sabah. Note that during the time, the army is still using its zebra stripe camouflage although M4A1 rifle is already standard issue.

While these terrorists were swiftly dealth with, they also exposed several weaknesses within the army, including the lack of suitable armored vehicles for counterinsurgency purposes

I wouldnt call it swiftly.... it showed a lot of weakness for the Malaysian Armed forces in terms of experience in COIN and close air support. I remember the malaysian doingbarialnattacks at the same time, the rebels being interviewed far away from danger.

Malaysia just dont have combat helicopter at that time being, although they have helicopter from communist era insurgent that armed with 20mm cannon ... that is why they use F/18 Hornet using GBU bombs to target the terrorist position.... it costly i can say but at the same is massage to the terrorist and neighbouring country that Malaysia is armed and ready.... At the same it involve political agenda at the same time... if not for that, the terrorist and its family already have no place in eastern Sabah...

I don't know what interview you're talking about but rightly after couple hours of artillery/mortar and airstrikes, close to 40 of these bandits died. Of course there will be splintered and staggered groups but isn't the main point of these barrages is to hit the centre of gravity of the opposing force? After them terrorists got hammered then the infantry would sweep the area clean.

It's not perfect but they did that with minimum casualties from the civilian and friendly forces and negligible property damages
