Food & drink Hungry Boy recipes or just what you ate

A recent study from Germany shows that a vegan diet may be detrimental to bone health.

Why am I not surprised? You can't undo the habit of a few 100k years of omnivorous feeding without a backlash to man's body.

It is warm and humid so something simple for lunch

Bread sliced thin, fish fillet on top smeared with Thai red curry paste, 10min in oven @160c

Sometime I makee my own paste mashing kalamata olives with sundry tomatoes and fresh herbs.

Königsberger Klopse

I made it to a recipe nearly identical to the above. I don't use meat broth to cook the meatballs in. I cook them in water to which I add, about 5 pepper corns, 5 juniper berries, 2 - 3 bay leafs, onions and a dash of vinegar and salt.

I also add a bit of anchovis paste to the meatballs mass, or if you don't have a few dashes of Nam Pla fish sauce will also do the trick.

To make the sauce I reuse the broth which is sieved to get rid of the leafs and kernels. No white wine used! I think it geht's the best taste by using the cooking broth of the meatballs.

Königsberger Klopse
I'm not a fan of capers and as a child I detested Königsberger Klopse although my grandma made them quite often. But nowadays I like me some well-made Klopse from time to time. Might try this recipe since I can't eat out during lockdown and this won't be on delivery either.

^^^That's hilarious, same here. We used to get this stuff in Kindergarten and I hated it. Nowadays my taste for many things has changed quite a bit. I used to hate olives too, but now I buy them in raw amounts. One German dish that I've always loved and will forever love, though is Rheinischer Sauerbraten. Can't wait for restaurants to open again.

Being British is considering "the sky is blue" to be an adequate temperature to start cooking outside - it was actually about 9c/49f. Not freezing or anything but I could see my breath and it was totally worth it.

And I definitely didn't need the second potato.

Fish Miller’s Wife style

Flour, salt, black pepper, fish fillet, butter, plenty of chopped fresh parsley.
Combine the flour, salt, and pepper, coat the fish, fry in butter on both sides, add the parsley.

Tried a homemade tomato and pesto fish stew thing. To begin with, for some reason I didn't soften the onion enough so that was vaguely crunchy throughout and although I enjoyed it - it was quite rich tasting. I threw way more red pesto in that the recipe called for, don't know if that was responsible.
