The Italian firearms manufacturing firm Vincenzo Bernardelli manufactured under license quantities of the Galil assault rifle in two different models for governmental use in the 1980s.assault rifle was an outright clone of the Galil AR/ARM variant.The STD can be adapted to mount the M203.

5.56-NATO assault rifle is an Italian licensed copy of the Israeli Galil. This weapon features an A-R-S trigger group (Italian definition for S-E-F, Safe, Semi-Auto, Full-Auto fire) and a folding stock. It accepts standard NATO magazines, however, this weapon is highly improved than the Israei GALIL. It's not produced in many exemplars: just NOCS employes it in massive way, the Army got some hundreds of this rifle because the standard regulation assault rifle, the Beretta AR-70/90, can't be equipped with a 40mm M203 Underbarrel Grenade Launcher. All M203-equipped Italian Army's assault rifle are Bernardelli VB-SR.
