It was really easy till about a year ago - bad guys had AK's - then the yanks left a lot of weapons in Afghanistan just to confuse things
Became much more difficult in February this year now the good guys have to have a blue or yellow piece of material tied to their arm or tape on their helmet - the bad guys wear red - they all have AK's
The blue/yellow guys have much better AK's now as the red team kindly delivered a load of new AK's to the airport in Kiev by helicopter on day one
Just stick to a PPK, it makes much less mess at very close range

ok, let's try to make some differences:
the versions of the M16 correspond to improvements in their materials or by request of the users to make them smaller or lighter.
In the case of pistols, exactly the same thing happens as with rifles, newer, lighter, more resistant and (sometimes) cheaper materials appear.
Finally, in the case of the versions of the L1 made in India, they are basically adaptation requirements to local needs and climates, as happens with the IAI Galil, which is already produced in Colombia according to the changes suggested by the soldiers themselves.
