On August 16, 2019, the Canadian Ministry of Defense announced the commencement of negotiations with General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS-C) regarding the purchase of 360 modernized LAV 6.0 CSV (Combat Support Vehicle) infantry fighting vehicles.
The contract is to provide technical and logistical support, including test, training and storage infrastructure.
 
Troops from C squadron of the Royal Canadian Dragoons sharpen their skills with the Leopard 2 by engaging multiple targets in preparation for the various exercises coming this fall. In the training area of 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown, in Oromocto, New Brunswick on 27 August 2019.

Pathfinder training, one of the most challenging courses in the Canadian Armed Forces, qualifies soldiers to be specialists in advance deployment into hostile environments to prepare for the arrival of main fighting forces. Soldiers selected for the training learn to survive and operate in isolated conditions and become experts at controlling parachute drop zones, helicopter landing zones, beach zones and tactical airstrips.
