This is James Robert Martin of Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia. He was July 8th 1894 and died in 1955. In 1917 he was police officer who was reporting a robbery when the SS Mont-Blanc and the SS Imocollided and exploded, he later enlisted in the military and spend the rest of WWI in France
