Question? Royal Canadian Dragoons

Folks,
I am restoring a 1944 Ford Lynx 11 Scout Car. I am currently researching the correct unit and formation signs.
I wish to mark the vehicle as a Lynx with D squadron, Royal Canadian Dragoons, while it was the reconnaissance regiment for the 1st Canadian Infantry Division, during September 1944.
Any and all assistance would be welcome.

Thanks, I have submitted an email request to the RCAC, and I do have a contact with current RCDs.
My search centres around the Allied recognition flash used on AFVs, in Italy, in September 1944. I understand that the Allied Star wasn’t used at this time in Italy?
I’ve turned to this forum since modellers do a lot of due diligence.

BZ, Thanks very much. Sorry for the delay in responding, your response ended up in my junk folder. The use of the allied air recognition roundel and the allied star is new to me.
