Colombian Navy, US Navy and Japanese Navy with the USS Detroit Participates in Tri-Lateral Passing Exercise with Colombia and Japan
CARIBBEAN SEA - (Sept. 8, 2023) – The Colombian Navy Exclusive Economic Zone Patrol ship ARC Victoria (PZE-48), and Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Training Squadron ships JS Kashima (TV-3508) and JS Hatakaze (TV-3520) conduct a tri-lateral passing exercise (PASSEX) with the Freedom-class Littoral Combat ship USS Detroit (LCS 7) in the Caribbean Sea, Sept. 8, 2023. The PASSEX enhanced communication and interoperability between forces, and improved operational readiness. USS Detroit is deployed to the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations assigned to support Commander, Task Force 45’s mission. The mission includes combined naval operations, partnership building, and acting as a service provider to Joint Interagency Task Force South by supporting counter illicit-drug trafficking in Central and South American waters. (5/17/1993) An aerial view of a section of the Ship Intermediate Maintenance Facility at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. One submarine tender and 16 decommissioned nuclear-powered submarines are shown including the Seawolf (SSN-575); six George Washington, and Ben Franklin class SSBN's (with their missile sections cut out) plus several Skate, Skipjack, Permit and Sturgeon class SSN's. All are awaiting scrapping.
Identifiable boats are, from left to right:Thomas A. Edison (SSBN-610),Skipjack (SS-585), unidentifiable, Triton (SSRN-586), possibly the Benjamin Franklin (SSBN-640), unidentifiable, Skate (SSN-578), Sargo (SSN-583), Swordfish (SSN-579), Seawolf (SSN-575) & unidentifiable. USS Missouri BB-63 Aground on Thimble Shoals, Virginia, 21 January 1950, as several harbor tugs attempt to free her. She went aground on 17 January and was refloated on 1 February. Note minesweepers and other ships in the shipping channel beyond Missouri's stern. Their apparent closeness indicates that the photograph was taken with a telephoto lens.
