Food & drink What are you drinking?

I've got this tonight....

i'm probably only going to have the one beer, then maybe a gin or two. I've been caning the beers pretty hard recently and the calories are stacking up. Slightly less bad option in gin. But then once I have one, it's so easy to walk to the beer fridge for another!

^---- Nice list, downsizer! Is it sad, that I don't see any I'm really keen to try? I think my taste buds are off, or perhaps I just need one of the "not an IPA" ones from the list put in front of me in a glass and THEN I'd be picking it up. ?

My latest: Payette Brewing's effort to can and sell a light summer belgian wheat beer. Called "Urban Surfer Citrus Wheat".

Not my style, but it was inoffensive and refreshing. I'm calling it a locally brewed alternative to Blue Moon. Made with coriander (which I hate), lemon grass, orange peel, grapefruit peel and lemon peel. If you are a Blue Moon fan, don't hesitate to look for microbrew alternative "takes" to try.

I know what you mean, a lot of things seem very samey at the minute. I've never really been a fan of Blue moon, had it numerous times when working in the States but just never really "got" it....

A lot of beers at the minute just seem to want to juice up for the sake of it as @Jake84 says. Dial it back a notch brewers.

I started with "Nuttendiesel", then I had a "Triple Karmeliet" and now I'm back with *Nuttendiesel". This will not end well.
(Nuttendiesel = German slang for Champagne)

You got that right! They can dial back the hops, spice and super haze as far as I'm concerned!

... Summer is coming and we need a bit of light refreshment.

And as I've mentioned, I'm doing a fair bit of whiskey and soda water, soda and bitters, soda and vermouth, and just plain soda with soda ;-) these days. Actually, a fair amount of the soda water is actually NOT soda, but San Pellegrino my wife bought me a case of...

Never got a headache from champagne.

Really? That's nice then. I have to be careful with the stuff.

Friday I had two pint Zywiec and half a pint of Rainier while responsibly socializing with the neighbors out on the park strip ! That's the firs time I've had more than one beer at a time since around the first week of March! Last day of snowboarding this spring, that day.....

I hardly drink any alcohol these days. It just doesn’t have any attraction on me anymore. Sometimes a single malt and sometimes a French “cidre” from Normandy. I really love that stuff. But beer and wine do not tempt me anymore.

If anyone is interested in making an investment Raasay Distillery is taking pre orders for there first Malt bottle release that's being released in December ... at a price of £99

Friday night, Lock down, couple of beers to pass the time....

I would try that RyePA ha ha... and also that Pils...

-----------
I'm going to crack open a 500 mil bottle of George Dickel Tennessee Sour Mash. Supposedly it is the only other sour mash besides Jack Daniel's which is distilled in the same manner. We'll see what a bit tastes like over ice.

@Euroamerican I've had the crystal rye before, it is really nice and malty without the current craze for juice bombs and haze, it's quite dark. But that's why I went out of my way to get it. I fancied the pils for a nice clean refreshing beer, we are eating curry tonight so it'll cleanse the pallette. Or at least thats my excuse...

@Junglejim How was that cocktail and WHAT is is called? Manhattan of some sort, Sazerac? I'm sort of intrigued....:)

=------------------
So my latest beer tasting:

Mother Earth Brew Co's "Tierra Madre". A bready/malty take on the refreshing Mexican Lager. Tasty refreshment, and you can drink more than one with enjoyment.

Edit on 6 May: Added another new one, Jeremiah Johnson's Honey Weizen. A bit of honey flavor in an OK wizen. Enjoyed.

Well, the ingredients are on that paper, so without a soft drink base it is a cocktail rather than a long drink. Note also the different phases of clear and brown liquer which indicate that the stuff has just been mixed.

I for one am enjoying one of these:

Haven't had much to drink of note recently, and I've still not been to a pub since they re-opened but I fancy a couple of beers this evening....so I'm going for what I would call traditional english style ales.....no cloudy murk, hop bombs, fruit juices etc.... I've got...

And I've got this as a wildcard...
