Food & drink What are you drinking?

21'st Amendment's Fireside Chat Winter Ale with spices added. Very NOT spiced, for a spice "oldish" ales. Pleasant, unremarkable.

Have to go ahead and drink my last winter season beers, especially since the P.C. Covid-19 safety teams just shut down my hometown snowboarding mountain for the rest of the season!! ?? Crap.....and while typing this message, I just found out the next closet resort has also turned off its lifts! AAArrggghh...

Whilst everyone around me has been panic buying toilet roll and pasta, I've been stocking up on ales and gins.

I'm ready to hunker down and ride this out.

Need a whiskey tonight - just a cheap one to make a toddy - hot water - whiskey - sugar or honey

I have discovered an excellent drink if you have a sore throat
If you have any leftover full fat tonic water - from the gin and tonic - just stick a mug full in the microwave for a minute and drink whilst warm - the odd thing is it is quite a nice drink and certainly does wonders for your throat - also gets rid of any old or flat tonic you would just throw away - win win

I’d have thought this thread would slowly die. Luckily, COVID-19 has reignited your guys interest for it.

Still on my beers, cheap and more or less local ones. Not hitting the pub or bar these days so bunkering down with what’s left here, I haven’t really stocked up on booze or food like it’s Zombieland so for the sake of running errands which is basically my only freedom these days, I refill every week my fridge. I’m not one to cellar booze.

Wife wanted Bailey's and I've been depleting the Pendleton Canadian Whiskey and Elijah Craig bourbon:

So, I returned from the liquor store with a bottle of Bailey's and a bottle of George Dickel Rye Whiskey! She loves the Bailey's on ice, and the rye is pretty darn tasty.

I'm going to get the George Dickel Sour Mash next time. Supposedly it's the only other Sour Mash national brand besides Jack Daniel's.

Baileys is another I purposely never purchase. I love it too much to self discipline and keep it for over a night. It’s totally yummy.

Jack Daniels or Jim Beam of course I could keep it for longer.

Wife brought me a small group of sample beers and hard seltzers from her office's beer merchandiser. I don't know about the seltzers, but I will try the beers.

First one: Premium Northwest PNW Beer. A 16-ounce can of refreshing, good old, American lager beer!

Hope you get some good ones!

I drank a Modelo Especial last night. Oh, and the night before too......

Modelo..... We went on holiday to mexico last summer, I got quite a taste for Modela Negra from the hotel bar.

Beer club delivery arrived....good mix of european beers in this one..

Starting with these....

^---- Wow! You got some diversity there in flavors!@

It's a very nice dark German-style, but not heavy, lager. IMHO...... Tonight I might get some local Maibock beer. I'm feeling festive for the Easter lockdown weekend.

Picked up a couple cans of Widmer's Sueperweizen. It's a lightly berry-tinged version of their standard Widmer Hefe, I think... Anyway, it was not as fruity and definitely not as sweet as I was expecting it to be. Very refreshing though on a sunny afternoon, like a koelsch or crystal weizen beer.

Followed it up with a old-fashioned. That bottle of George Dickel Rye has gone empty a lot faster than I was expecting!

Just to update on some of my recent ales....

I really like the PB&J Porter. Clwb Tropicana was nice and refreshing as well.

Tripel Karmeliet is one of my favorite Belgian triple... haven’t had Sierra Nevada Hazy things yet, but I could do without these “New England IPA”, which are too often just orange juice instead of beer. I like my IPA bitter...

I agree with the Bailey's, I even attempted to assemble some of my own, but substituted Jack instead a good Irish whiskey.... sadly started on the Bailey's by the proprietor at the local golf course, who also grill amazingly large and tasty Fillet Mignon, he brought out a complimentary after dinner drink for our party... so smooth! I kinda like the Salted Carmel,,, not a big drinker ever or at all... but nice to have a bed-time warm- up for general purposes...

^---- Nice list, downsizer! Is it sad, that I don't see any I'm really keen to try? I think my taste buds are off, or perhaps I just need one of the "not an IPA" ones from the list put in front of me in a glass and THEN I'd be picking it up. ?

My latest: Payette Brewing's effort to can and sell a light summer belgian wheat beer. Called "Urban Surfer Citrus Wheat".

Not my style, but it was inoffensive and refreshing. I'm calling it a locally brewed alternative to Blue Moon. Made with coriander (which I hate), lemon grass, orange peel, grapefruit peel and lemon peel. If you are a Blue Moon fan, don't hesitate to look for microbrew alternative "takes" to try.
