Food & drink What are you drinking?

I had cider earlier this afternoon for my buddy’s birthday. Surprisingly good for under 3€ a 750ml bottle.

@Serj I really don’t drink wine much anymore beside for the formal dinner with friends or family. I just can’t drink wine and not eat so I prefer beer overall. To each his own.

This Friday another friend celebrate his birthday at my place and if you guys insist I’ll try to remember and post the wine we are going to sip on then.

^^^I was being facetious, as usual. I do drink beer, actually. I must admit, though that most kinds of beer never tickled my fancy. I do love Guinness and Irish stouts in general, but if you want to get the proper real Guinness where I live, you'll have to shop in expensive specialist stores. Most German beers are fine and of pretty high quality except for maybe Kölsch, but somehow that part of Germany's culinary culture never clicked with me.

I still prefer a good pork sausage with mashed potatoes over rice with kebab, which drives my mother nuts. I always tell her it's her own fault she brought me and my sister here afterall...

Well pork sausages, rice and kebab or a proper Lebanese Shawarma are totally my jam too. I love food. Clue? I’ve gotten too chubby in my 30s.

As for beers, I won’t rehash this. I love them pretty much all beside Barleywines and Lambic even these expensive Belgian Cantillon or Drei Fontainen.

Got a 'free' bottle of malt whiskey today, and I am still trying to work out if I like it or not - the more I try it the better it seems - but it's not helping me get my work done tonight

Posting on MI.net doesn’t count as “work” but we do appreciate your company here of course. ;)

I am just waiting for a couple of jobs to run to check the results in the tables and sat compiling a fix for the bits they screwed up earlier today
It's much easier to fix things when no one is using the systems
a bit of Tangerine Dream on in the background - nice
I can type on two machines at once - code with right hand - MI net left hand (it shows some days) ? ?
Juggling 3/4 laptops - 6 screens and 2 phones - a bottle of malt and a very thick black sludge that might have been coffee 3 days ago

A man gotta guard his drink!!!

1:35am poasting frome my bed and have drunk champagne, red whine, calavados, white whine more red wine. It was quiet a special Christmas

See y’all tomorrow in the Xmas loot thread when I have sobered upped ?

Had three beers and a cider last night (Wednesday night) and woke up with a headache that lasted all day, even through a snowboarding session at altitude! Sipped a little rye whiskey while snowboarding to loosen things up, but beer sounds very undesirable right now.

Honestly, I'm sure I was dehydrated.

You know you're getting older when the hangover lasts longer than the fun.

Tonight, on Christmas Eve, we had a little mulled wine that was given to us as a Christmas treat!

Okay sorry for my poorly written post before here.

Speaking of “sobering up”, the best way to do is to drink again although it’s 11am now here.

Bière de Noël from Northern France (close to Lille/Risjel):

Santé!

Yummy! Wish I had thought about buying some decent « bière d’abbaye ».

I’m back in the kitchen since 07:30?
Tonight’s menu:
-Home cured Gravad lax with mustard-honey sauce
-Filet Wellington with home made « pommes dauphines «
-Oranges-speculoos tiramisu
-« buche de Noël «

We just had prime rib and it was darn tasty! To try during the Monopoly championship of all carbon based life forms soon
to follow, older daughter also brought a bottle of peanut butter whisky. I like a shot of whisky occasionally, but this stuff can only be called NASTY! ??

I'll have a small glass of wine before I shuffle off to bed, but ain't no way I'm drinking this!!

i suspect that Skrewball stuff is sweet like Fireball and it does indeed sound awful!

i had a little George Dickel sour mash whiskey on New Years Eve, on ice with a little vermouth.

Jesus, fireball.

An American girl I know had told me about about drinking it in her local dive in Ohio and I was honest - it sounded vile. Then I was drunk in a pub in London and saw it behind the bar so bought one. It tasted like crap and I texted her to tell her as much. She essentially replied with "What the **** did you expect?" and I honestly didn't have an answer.

FAO British people. Sadlers Brewery have an offer on their website. I had 12 pints of their black IPA and a bottle of their rum delivered to the house for thirty quid including postage. The rum (Which apparently has won awards) normally goes for twenty so the twelve pints were essentially a tenner. Ordered it on Tuesday night and it arrived Thursday morning. Also, it doesn't have to be rum - they have their own gin and other things so you can pick and choose.
