I have to ask -- any of you fellas that served time in ground combat -- would you ever choose to wear jeans into action like these warriors? I just don't see the comfort/utility, but I'm a retired AF space/missile operator, so WTF do I know?? LoL
As someone who's never worn a uniform, I'd have been inclined to agree with you if only because the sweaty crotch from wearing jeans in a humid jungle or swamp sounds horrific, but it seems they had their positive points - https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/why-vietnam-war-navy-seals-loved-wear-blue-jeans-field-143917

Personally I can't think of anything worse. I wore jeans occasionaly on training exercises to prepare us for deployments where we would sometimes go out in civilian clothes and crawling about in mud, sh1t and shingle with them on was horrendous. It was even worse afterwards when they were wet through.

I never ever wear jeans in the tropics period. Way too hot.

AMEN to that mate....what a pain in the a*** denim jeans are in any kind of heat, now with these tight skinny jeans these guys wear I don't know how they'd do it....what a rash that will cause! Yes, too hot! Most of the uniforms for tropics and temperate weather were fine, I didn't mind them. The US jungle uniforms were good too.
