I'm flabbergasted.. Why is the US Navy constantly changing uniforms? This has been ongoing since 1971!!!..Here's the latest on fire-retardant uniforms.

Here's a link to a forum with photos of the USN working uniform changes since the in the 70s & 80s..

^^ Sorry @bdpopeye , looks like a bag of fruit not sailors. Even the attempt to return to your dungarees looks crap :(

I would love to see the USN return to it's roots of the 30's - 60's and bring back the real dungarees for your jacks

I never liked the old style dungarees. They don't fit right and were of poor quality. They faded out in no time. They were also prone to rips and tears.

I like the working uniform I was issued in boot camp in 1971 and re-enlisted in in 1975. They were called utilities and were very durable. They also had a shirt that buttoned down. The pants were dark blue. Enywho the USN did away with them in the early 80s. And went back to dungarees.

popeye re-enlisting in April 1975 aboard the USS Hancock (CVA 19)

Well I kinda like the uniform on the right it vaguely resembles the RN working uniform. Which I like very much.

As I stated the USN has been in a flex state over ALL it's uniforms since 1971.....

p.s...I like the blue coveralls the USN issued for shipboard use back in the late 90s until ???.
