Soldiers of the Thai Army embark to South Korea, 1950. Thailand was among the first Asian nations to respond to UN resolution 84, in response to the invasion by North Korean Communist forces. They wear French-style Adrian helmets and are carrying Type 66 Siamese Mauser (modified Japanese Type 38 Arisaka) (legacies of WW2 struggles against France and cooperation/struggle against Imperial Japan). Ultimately, more than 11,000 Thai troops would serve in the Korean War alongside UN forces, fighting notably at the Battle of Pork Chop Hill.
