A new recognition journal was a cause for much excitement in some parts of the air cadets!!

In the Netherlands they had the magazine called ''Herkenning'' (recognition). It was published by the MoD and was available in magazine- bookshops. There was always a puzzle in it of foreign equipment. The winner got a small amount of money.
 
I think its an S2 - RAF only had S2. Sorry. I should admit that I did used to win aircraft recognition quizzes, as a kid - I know, I'll try to get out more....

A 1963 image of an English Electric Lightning F2 from 19 Squadron, Royal Air Force, then stationed at RAF Leconfield. The ex-RAF station is now used as the Defence School of Transport.

Looking stunning in the early 'overall silver' paint finish, this Avro Vulcan B1 is seen at RAF Waddington in 1957 with attendant fuel bowsers and aircrew. The V-Bomber fleet would soon lose this colour scheme in exchange for the more well known 'Anti-flash' overall white paint
