Exercise "Certain Strike 1987". During this REFORGER exercise, 6 M1 tanks and 1 M88 ARV from the US 67th Armored Regiment drove into a peat bog and got stuck. The tankers didn't manage to get their rides out of the bog and they started sinking deeper and deeper at a worrisome speed. The Yanks were considering cannibalising as much parts as possible and write the tanks off. Then the Kraut engineers came, built a hard top road into the peat bog and with heavy equipment they managed to extricate the M1s and the M88.

These men became famous through the famed London Embassy Siege or Operation Nimrod when Iranian terrorists took several hostages requiring a trained group of commandos to undertake this rescue mission resulting in most making it out alive and 5 perpetrators killed.

I don't believe this is British SAS CT teams members mate.....The kit is different and it says in black marker on them pics "NZ SAS CT TEAM" so these are likely the CT team members from the New Zealand SAS of the 1980's, which we all should know was modeled after the cutting edge British SAS CT team concept.
