Politics The 2022 French Presidential Election/French politics thread

I´m good for a change, but not sure anyone really will come with some fresh new faces and ideas. Pecresse is OK (but I´m not honking at intersections either) but there´s a great deal of old school control freaks who wil want their piece of the cow.

Unfortunately, none of them are conservative on the economy.

Only Denis Payre would have made my day, but they did´nt even consider his bid.

That 27mm he has over Putin must make Micron feel like a world leader

New candidate: Rafik Smati.

He arrived in France at the age of two and built a succesful company from scratch.

Politically, he is at centre or right...having stood by François Fillon in the 2017 election. He is essentially convinced that the state is too much involved in the economy. He is a fiscal conservative. In France the right is socially conservative but socialist/statist on the economy.

I listen to an economic radio program by podcast regularly where he is often invited and he's probably the only one with a conservative program on the economy. His personal life having gone from modest immigration family to the leader of an international company demonstrates he knows his stuff about business.

To be honest, he does'nt stand a chance but right now there is where my 1st round vote goes.

"lol are you deaf?"

"lol you're bald"

At this point it is almost making me wish some Soviet Era nostalgic, trigger happy, Russian General first a few RS-24 all over France. With extra dose on Paris, preferably coated with gold, tantalum, zinc or cobalt. Salt that place to kingdom come.

Montpellier. A young Arab guy tears Marine Le Pen's picture. He says: "Marine, forget about it. Here is La Paillade, 35,000 inhabitants, 35,000 Arabs. It's Morocco, not France".

In all honesty, she has a hard time finding finance from French banks because they are afraid of bad PR.

She goes where she can find money. This year it is'nt a Russian bank. I prefer the borrowing to be done in the EU/Europe than elsewhere, and especially in Russia or China.

Being realist with Russia does'nt mean being servile to them.

Meh... she can pocket as much money as they are willing to throw her. LePen is politically dead.

Since her defeat to Macron she has disappeared from the political scene. Her party has imploded.

She can still be used as a scarecrow and boogeyman though. The French electorate can be easily influenced by the spoopy ghost of the FN

I´ll take a bet here.

Le Pen will come in second to macron and be in the second round.

And she will lose...but by a much lesser margin than in 2017. I believe the attention shift to Zemmour as being the new projection of horror will actually make her more presidential.

I’ve stopped caring about this thing since I’ve now acknowledged it’s for Macron, whoever he faces in the second round.

You’ll have to deal with it fellas…

Some fun here. Pecresse met Balladur, former prime minister, last economic conservative we ever had. Beaten by jacques Chirac in 95 in the first round of the presidential elections.

Amazing what you can do with fakes nowadays. Frankly anything you read on the internet needs triple checking

This is a little silly from "le gorafi", french equivalent to the "Onion"

"Who is Wushu, the billionnaire panda who is financing the campaign of Yannick Jadot" (green candidate)

SPOILER: he copyrighted the "panda" trademark and made millions worldwide (Fiat Panda etc etc...)

So Valerie Pecresse organized a meeting of former diplomats and defence experts having served under LR/UMP presidents to discuss standpoint and necessary steps for France. It looked like this:
