Other Post So, how was your day?

It's snowing heavy again - big snowflakes - 4-5" has come in last 2 hours - main road is closed again as there is a Ford Fiesta in the wall at the bottom of the road

Can it just give it a rest and where is this global warming I was promised

No snow on the ground yet here, but it’s chilly and wet enough and I’m predicting a very cold winter.

Got a cold, which is nada but still a bit unpleasant. If it’s snowing right now I can’t imagine what January and February will look like. £500M well spent over in Glasgow anyway.

Boris cannot even keep the lights on

It's probably been too windy for the wind turbines...............

The lunchtime loaf that came out of my breadmaker is the only thing today that collapsed more than the England cricket team.

Am I the only one NOT looking forward to Xmas and New year eve this year?

Some reasons for this: I love her as I hinted a couple of pages ago in this thread but the in-laws, gawd. As goes the joke: the difference between in-laws and outlaws is that outlaws are wanted.

My own family is pretty much limited to my parents, and my father now basically live up north on the shores, only remain my mother, uncle and his wife and the odd cousin and wife I usually only see once a year for Xmas.

It just doesn’t feel the same anymore; I could do without it. I don’t care for gifts and presents anyway. As for NYE, what’s the point? Celebrating yet another year of half baked lockdowns/curfews and restrictions, all of the internet and IRL people being either epidemiologist or antivaxxer?

I hear you Frère Jacques. I'm not much into this whole Xmas and NYE business either. My tip for you would be paying the unwanted ones a visit first before you drag your lovely wife-to-be along to celebrate with your part of the family. So that's business first and then the fun part. ;)

And find some things you like, a long walk, a good meal just for the 2 of you.

You don’t have to spend the whole festive period with family.

Don’t 20% of murders happen at Christmas?

I'm lucky with my in-laws. I see more of them than my real family (and I don't have any problems with them, we're just scattered across the world).

I'm with Fluff on the whisky though. Plus a decent bottle of vodka for martinis - Christmas and New Year is about the only time I drink them, far too moorish!

Fresher yeast Gaz. If that fails a new breadmaker. I'm on my third in 20 or so years, they just stop doing the job after about 9 or 10 in my experience, but I use mine twice a week, minimum.

Got to go to the outlaws this weekend - not seen them for 2 years, which is fine by me - so a 500 mile ball ache journey
(this is her sister and all her tribe - her sister has not been at all supportive when my wife's son fell out with her - but my OH won't let me go round and break his legs - the leeching lying little thief)
Wife has spent a *hit load of money on people we never see and who forget that gift giving is reciprocal in most cultures

Xmas day will be at her daughter's house - although we are getting the turkey and all the food and drink - daughter has a 'Frenchie' bulldog thing(lockdown hound), and granddaughter has 3 of them as well. So as long as none of them *iss on my leg or slobber all over me(hope someone buys me a taser), I will probably be able to get through Xmas day - pray for snow

Boxing Day is at home - wife's daughter and grandson will come over and one of my wife's close friends who has terminal cancer
So it will be a bit more relaxed apart from having the dog in the house which upsets our cat - who I usually have to go and find outside once everyone has gone

So all in all roll on 2022 some decent weather and let's get back outside building things(Y)

@Royal, lucky man! My in-laws just aren’t THAT bad, but terribly clingy; especially her mother. She should keep in mind that I’m with her daughter, not looking to “date” my in-laws seriously hence I think @Fluff is about spot on. Just her and me, a meal and a walk, a roll in the hay whatever just the two of us.

@BCNTM, you have a full house don’t you? I have a feeling and I’m under the impression that you’re one of those guys that enjoy peace and quiet and would happily spend it with your wife only too.

Ah well, I’ll pull through, NYE might be very much low key and getting a friend or two here for dinner, music and a movie. Not sure yet.

Wifey's mother is Satan's sister, but she's in a care home so no worries about having to put up with her. Her father (God rest his soul) was a decent, very respectable man - WW2 vet who passed away at age 73.

So Christmas will be us, the daughters & grandkids and SiL. I like it that way just fine.
