On November 10, 2021, the Minister of National Defense informed on social media about plans to acquire 300 US, used Cougar 4 × 4 MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) armored personnel carriers for the Polish Army. The contract is to include a logistics and training package, and thanks to the accelerated procedure, the delivery of vehicles to Poland will begin next year.
According to the information of the spokesman of the Armament Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defense (IU MON), the intergovernmental agreement will be signed in a few weeks, and the recipient of the vehicles will be the Land Forces. The delivered vehicles, coming from surplus of the US Army (US Army), will be regenerated and properly retrofitted. The logistics package provides that the vehicles will be serviced in Poland, in military repair plants, but the details will be known after the conclusion of the contract.
The purchase of the MRAP Cougar will not affect the fate of the Multitasking Vehicles of Special Forces (WPWS) program, codenamed "Pegaz", which was canceled on July 27 this year. The "Pegaz" program will be resumed at a later date.
It is a quite complex problem, in South America we have the same situation with Venezuelan migrants who are fleeing due to the terrible living conditions in their country, I don't know if someone can enlighten us a little about it.
