They used 7.62x51mm SLR during left wing extremist Maoist insurgency & continued to deploy that weapon in UN peacekeeping missions. It's a good round for counter insurgency ops. Heavy but effective and they procured GALILs in that caliber which can be used as Battle Rifles as well as in DMR role.

Ituri, 11 Feb 22. Nepalese peacekeepers participated in a community meeting organized by Civil Affairs Section Bunia between FARDC, PNC, locals, village chiefs, and youths of the SHARI area. MONUSCOF provided protection and security to the local participants.

In order to preserve the security of the population and their property, MONUSCO launched a large-scale operation on 5 April 2022 against armed groups active in the area of Bali, more than 100 km from Bunia in the Djugu territory. During this operation, five militiamen were neutralised and nine others wounded, as well as rounds of ammunition, firearms and edged weapons seized by MONUSCO peacekeepers.
