In November 1942 Burra Bra was requisitioned. Her superstructure was stripped down, one wheelhouse removed, and she was armed with one 12-pounder on the stern, two Vickers machine guns, and two depth charge chutes. She was commissioned HMAS Burra Bra, with the Pennant Number 69, on 1 February 1943. The navy used her at sea as an anti-submarine training ship and as a target towing vessel for aircraft torpedo and bombing practise. She was laid up in 1944 at Athol Bight adjacent Bradley's Head, before being used to supply steam to vessels under refit.

Dolphin 2-class submarine INS Drakon was christened at the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) shipyard in Kiel, Germany. on 12 November 2024

The main difference with respect to the previous Dolphin class submarines also built by TKMS is its elongated sail, which could house a vertical launch system for missiles in addition to the 533 mm and 650 mm torpedo tubes of the previous vessels.
