A fine collection of warships at the Boston Navy Yard on June 21, 1934.

The New York class dreadnoughts USS New York (BB-34) (Bottom) and USS Texas (BB-35) (Top) are the most prominent.

At the bottom of the photo is USS Constitution, "Old Ironsides" herself. Between Constitution and the battleships is the French aviso d'Entrecasteux of the Bougainville class, visiting the the United States.

The four ships above the dreadnoughts inclide the destroyer USS Farragut (DD-348) that is the furthest away. The two ships tied up on the same peir include a Lake class cutter (Left) and a Tampa class cutter (Right) of the US Coast Guard. Finally, we have the patrol boat USS Eagle 19 (PE-19) that is closest to the battleships.

USS Nevada (BB-36) painted orange for the Bikini Atoll Nuclear Test, July 1946. She was intended to be the target ship for an aerial nuclear bomb drop during the 'Able' detonation during Operation Crossroads. The operation was conducted to find out how effective nuclear weapons were against a naval fleet.

USN:
Name battleship of the class, USS South Dakota (BB-57) and two destroyers alongside the repair ship USS Prometheus (AR-3) for repairs, probably at Noumea, New Caledonia, in November 1942. The inboard destroyer, with the distorted bow, is probably USS Mahan (DD-364), which was damaged in a collision with South Dakota at the close of the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands on 27 October 1942. South Dakota received damage in both that battle and in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal on 15 November 1942. The other destroyer may be USS Lamson (DD-367).
