The new version of the "ASCOD" IFV, designed specifically for Latvia, will be known as "Hunter." The name was chosen by soldiers of the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces. "The name of the new infantry vehicles will symbolize the historical hunting gene of the Latvian nation and will also characterize the tasks of the new infantry fighting vehicle on the modern battlefield – to hunt and destroy the enemy."
The "Hunter" ("ASCOD") platform will be the basis for further expansion of the Land Forces' fleet of combat vehicles, along with other modifications of this series. This will not only simplify the challenges of repair, maintenance, and training of personnel, but also save on maintenance costs.
A key element of the Hunter infantry fighting vehicle is the Elbit Systems UT30 Mk2 range control gun turret. It is equipped with a 30-millimeter Mk44 "Bushmaster" II automatic cannon, capable of destroying both ground targets and low-flying air targets.
