Al Mar SOG Knife. I had this knife for quite a while, must have been about twenty years or so. Three years back I had given it to my teenage son to use it on our camping and hiking trips. A few days back I found one for sale on the web, when I saw the price I gave my son a nice Finnish hunting knife and cleaned up the Al Mar ;-)! Prices for vintage knives are much higher then I thought they were!!!

Au Lion M1918. As so often the "Au Lion" logo stamped onto the ricasso is very faint, you can't really see it on the photo. Note that the metal sheath has been field modified. The clasps holding it on teh pistol belt were very fickle and broke of the first time the rig saw field use. This one had a piece of thick steel wire, folded into a double hook, soldered onto the sheath, so it could be fixed to the eyelets of an ammo- or pistol belt.

An M1918 made by LF&C in the US. Again the same problem with the clasps on the sheath. This one was modified by covering the original metal sheath with a field made love drab web sheath with double hook. The blade retains most of the original blacked finish.

I always wondered why there was no modern issue blade based on the Roman Gladius. Arguably the most effective weapon in the Ancient world.

I will post some new stuff for a change. This one I got for free when I ordered a fuel hiking cooker online. "Mora Kniv" maybe cheap as dirt, but they are good working knives, ideal for hunting and hiking. If you loose them or break them you won't have any regrets. So IMHO they have their place in every collection.
