Food & drink Hungry Boy recipes or just what you ate

Potato of some sort. I think for this cubed/roasted
My mother used to do them boiled/ rough cut - but the outside was fluffy/flaky - never been seen them like this again. I think it may have been the type of potato. Grandfather had the prize winning herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle - so the beef was always top-notch as well

Turnip (neeps) were grown to feed the cattle...... - but on occasion served mixed with mashed carrot - made it a bit sweeter

Bitoque - Portuguese fried (slim) steak

Fried in butter and garlic, served w. rice, fries, egg and mixed pickles or salad

It usually is served in this clay plate (See Link)

Simple but very delicious

Unlike @Junglejim I am not a great food critic or reviewer, but yesterday evening we went to a neighboring town for a burger and fries. At least I can tell some of the ingredients they used: cheddar, honey sauce, cherry tomatoes, lard, pickles, the steak and fries as a side to pair it, which were outstanding too.

I have a good palate for anything very much excellent but don’t expect me to use super fancy words to describe it. The beer options were limited to just one so we shared a bottle of Bordeaux:

Did you share it, or does your good lady just get to watch?

I don’t share much my lady, neither she does, so we don’t get to watch anyway.

Or were you talking about the wine?

Ah, basically she just wasn’t yet served. I only took the photo before she did, so yeah that probably make me sound again like some selfish cheapskate.

BTW we were at this restaurant with a couple friend of us, so of course I didn’t sample a whole Bordeaux by myself as she doesn’t drink red wine.

Not a great photographer either - you chopped off her head ?
?

I’m fine with showing my mug here now and then, for her own privacy, miss Jake84 isn’t.

Of course there’s no way I’m creating an account here for her, either. She’s unlike me fairly agreeable and lovely so I’m a bit worried adding her to this testosterone fueled crowd.

My cat had better food or diet than I do. I live off of convenience store food. Just to add to this: I'm a lazy eater, in that I really just see food as food, I can appreciate good food but I have no cravings for it. You can feed me tuna casserole for an entire year and I wouldnt even notice.

This is why when I go out, I actually take time to enjoy the food in the area as I see it more of part of a cultural experience.

Pasta Salad .. - Sweetcorn relish , Onions , Peppers , Chives .

Goats cheese ,Quinoa and Caramilised Chestnut salad - Caramilised Chestnuts , Courgettes , onions , Green beans , olive oil . Goats Cheese

Homemade Pho Bo, but I cheat I just fry the spices the onions and ginger in a pot without fat until they are roasted and the smell emerges from the pot. Let it get dark but not burnt. Then add boiling water and beef broth.
