New arrivals at the unit are kitted out are firstpassing through the administrative BS, then they are kitted out and get a briefing. Finally they are awarded the three "fourragères" of the regiment and are thus officially admitted into the ranks of the 3e REI.
157th Cameron Day was celebrated on April 30th. This is, together with X-mas the most important holiday of the "Legion", and every Légionnaire celebrates it, wherever he is and what ever teh situation!
"Groupement de Commandos Parachutistes" . This is the French Army equivalent of the Pathfinders, they do not form an organic unit apart, but each "Régiment Parachutiste" has it's own freefall GCP's.
This regiment, based at Camp Souges, near Martignas-sur-Jalle, is the special reconnaissance unit of the French army. It is organized into "escadrons", there is one "Escadron de Commandement et de Logistique", the command and support element and seven specialized oprations "escadrons".
1. Escadron: Training and instruction of the unit's personnel
2. Escadron: Specialized in water and seaborne insertion
3. Escadron: Specialized in mountain and arctic operations
4. Escadron: Specialized in desert operations
5. Escadron: Specialized in HAHO/HALO operations
6. Escadron: Communications and data treatment
7. Escadron: Intelligence analysis and exploitation
