F-4J Phantom II (BuNo 153787) from Fighter Squadron 74 (VF-74) "Be-Devilers" lands aboard the aircraft carrier USS America (CVA-66). VF-74 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW-8) aboard the America for a deployment to Vietnam from 5 June 1972 to 24 March 1973.

Both jets were based at Point Mugu. The one in the foreground of JG72 "Westfalen ",with Norm 81B camouflage was mainly used for air-to- ground radar trials, and the one in the background with Norm 81A camouflage of WTD 61 served for the missile tests with AIM 120 AMRAAM.
