Everything F-4 related, one of the most ugly but beautiful aircraft to grace the skies

A US Navy McDonnell F-4N Phantom II from VF-51 (the "Screaming Eagles") intercepts a Libyan Tupolev Tu-22 "Blinder" over the Mediterranean Sea in April 1977. VF-51 was at this time operating from the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. Shortly after this they would return to the US to transition to flying the F-14.

To me, that has always been a beautiful bird (before my time). I was an AD in the Navy and was told it was a bitch to maintain. Also, it is proof that brick with wings can fly. :)

Great pix peeps. (Y)
