Jagdgeschwader 72 former fighter wing of Luftwaffe in Cold War. It formed on March 1, 1961 as Jagdbombergeschwader 36 on Fliegerhorst Nörvenich from parts of Jagdbombergeschwader 31. Due to limited capability to upgrade F-4 at beginning of new millennium, wing dissolved 2002.

Quite the record setting Phantom. 172 sorties flown during Desert Storm/Shield, and over 7,000 hours on the meter when she landed at Wright Patterson AFB before being placed on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
