The Estonian Armed Forces received the first of the six batches of R20 Rahe rifles and rifles ordered on July 1, 2019. The R20 is a construction of the LMT Defense of the Modular Assault Rifle System family. Includes 5.56 mm MARS-L (Light) carbines and 7.62 mm MARS-H (Heavy) carbines. Estonia ordered 19,000 carbines and rifles of the R-20 Rahe family. 10 thousand of them are to be delivered to the army of this country this year, and the rest in 2021. They will replace the Israeli IMI Galil SAR and AR automatic rifles and the Swedish Ak.4 automatic rifles (local variant of the G3). Galil and Ak.4 will be renovated and will be placed in the reserve during the war.

The first batch of R20 delivered to Estonia consists of 1,570 shooting constructions. Includes 1,250 LA-R20-12 subcabines and LA-R20-14 standard carbines (Scouts and Standard, the latter also with an overhead grenade launcher). LA stands for Laskuri Automaatrelv (Combat Automatic Weapon). R is short for Relv (weapon). The R20 Rahe is a variation of the LMT MARS-L, previously selected by the New Zealand Armed Forces.

Estonians were also given 250 TA-R20 rifles (LMT MARS-H variant) for 7.62 mm x 51 NATO ammunition. They come in two varieties: the TA-R20-16 standard rifle and the TA-R20-20 sniper rifle. TA stands for Täpsuslaskuri Automaatrelv (sniper automatic weapon), although the term Täpsuspüss (sniper rifle) also functions.

The order also included 70 suspended L2B / M203-2003 grenade launchers with a 229 mm barrel.
In addition to the weapon, the ordered accessories were also delivered, Vortex Razor II-E 1-6x24 and Trijicon VCOG 1-6x24 optical sights, Holosun HS515GM and Vortex SPARC AR collimator sights and Holosun HM3X 3x enlargers, flashlights and silencers. Each rifle is completed with eight 30-round Lancer magazines.

The latter come in two basic Scouts configurations with a Holosun collimator and enlarger and a laser pointer / target finder, and Standard with a Vortex collimator and an M203-2003 suspended grenade launcher.

On January 7, the Estonian company Milrem Robotics announced the first factory trials of the second prototype of the Type X RCV (Robotic Combat Vehicle) unmanned aerial vehicle. Mobility tests of the tracked platform were carried out in December 2020.
Work on the Type X RCV was first announced on May 20, 2020. Computer graphics were presented with a vehicle equipped with a turret system with a 30-mm automatic cannon, a coupled machine gun (probably 7.62 mm) and two sets of ten smoke grenade launchers and two more, four launchers each, which would suggest the use of a soft-kill class active vehicle protection system (ASOP).
From the information available so far, it is known that the combat weight of the vehicle will not exceed 12 tons, the height of 2.2 m, and the drive system is composed of a diesel and electric engine. The vehicle is to be capable of autonomous operation thanks to the IFK (Intelligent Functions Kit) artificial intelligence algorithms, based on the ROS2 (Robot Operating System) programming platform.

Interestingly, the vehicle will be able to be integrated with a turret system equipped with a 50mm autocannon, but this will limit its mobility to some extent. In the case of the 30 mm gun, it will be possible to transfer one vehicle in the holds of the C-130J Super Hercules and C-390 Millenium aircraft, two vehicles in the A400M-180 Atlas, and five in the C-17A Globemaster III.
